Take the right terminology, present it cleanly, and suddenly monitoring becomes "data collection."
My intent in creating FIG.1 was a clinical presentation asking uncomfortable questions about who gets to decide what's normal. We have become really good at dressing up oversight in neutral language, making it feel like standard procedure rather than something more invasive.
This is a strongly intended reflection on authority, language, and how easily we accept systems when they're packaged properly.
